Beecholme Colts 0 v 8 Whitton Wanderers

The under 12s maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a convincing 8-0 victory at Beecholme Colts in the league cup on Sunday. After 2 draws in the league it was nice to get a victory under our belts and after the hard work done in training keeping a clean sheet was more than welcome.

On a windy Sunday we travelled away to Cheam to face Beecholme Colts who are in the opposite division to ourselves. In the first half our opponents had the wind at their backs and duly put us under a bit of pressure, but after fifteen minutes we broke the deadlock with a fine finish from Mason Turner after showing good pace to break through the Beecholme defence. 1-0 was soon followed by 2 goals from Oliver Robinson as the beecholme boys lost their composure which left us with a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.

With the wind at our backs in the second period the goals duly followed 2 more for Mason, 2 for Matthew Bass and 1 from Samuel Groom left us with an 8-0 victory, but the biggest mention must be for the back 4 and the 2 goalies who kept their shape well throughout.

Im sure Kew Park Rangers will be a different opposition on Sunday so lets hope the improvement this week can continue for the under 12s. Well done boys

Manorcroft United 2 v 2 Whitton Wanderers

The under 12s left Manorcroft with a point on Sunday after a tough 2-2 draw at the team from Egham. With 5 of the squad missing the greens from Whitton started the game brightly and should have been 2 up in the first five minutes with some better finishing but we did finally get our noses in front mid-way through the first period with a first of the season from Daniel Turner which left us 1-0 up at the break. Pity we didn't start the second half as well as the first and the yellows of Manorcroft soon had us under a lot of pressure and duly pulled the score level. The boys from Whitton panicked and decided to kick the ball anywhere which didn't help our cause, midway through the second half Whitton was awarded a penalty after Sam Conway was brought down, Peter took responsibility but was denied by the upright, soon after Manorcroft scored through some slopping defending which is a problem we need to address. The boys never gave up in their quest to get us back into the game and was rewarded with 3 minutes left on the clock with a Mason goal, overall it was a fair result and the boys from both teams should be proud of the show that they put on for the parents watching. well done

Hampton Wanderers 3 v 3 Whitton Wanderers

With the under 12s moving up a division this season following last years success there was a slight worry to see if we could hold our own against much better teams in regards to talent and organisation, and on Sunday the boys answered the question with a fine battling draw in our first game in the premier league The game swung from end to end and with the boys from both teams giving 100%, it was a great game to watch with both teams evenly matched. The only disappointment was conceding three goals. from the kick off the Hampton boys put us under pressure which we weathered and after five minutes we started to step up to the pace of the game which was to be expected considering we hadn't played a game since the end of last season. After 15 minutes the whitton boys took the lead from a Mason shot that hit the bottom corner of the net, just when you score a goal you need to compose yourselves but we let them back into the game within five minutes to level the score, which was soon followed by another Hampton goal which gave our opponents a 2-1 lead, the greens kept their heads and a fine finish from Sam Groom from near the corner flag got us back on level terms and all square at the half time break. In the second period the game continued swinging from end to end but it was the greens from Whitton who scored from a fine finish from Kobi on his debut to give us a 3-2 lead which we held onto until 2 minutes from time when Hampton scored to bring things all level again this time at 3-3. with only a minute left on the clock the score remained the same and left us a bit deflated like a burst bouncy castle at conceding such a late goal, but it was a nice opening for us and now we will see if we can move on from this game and find our first win at this level next week when we play Manorcroft away on Sunday. Well done to both sets of boys who gave everyone watching such an entertaining game.
